Oh, how we really like "rebranding." From the stumblebums at The Gap to the anxious deckhands on the Microsoft titanic, unnecessarily modifying your logo is all the anger nowadays, so we shouldn't be amazed to see the New York City cab and Limousine Commission payment is a part of in on the fun by removing the phrase "taxi" from the town's taxis. That's right, while they'll still be yellow-colored and hailing one will still confirm complicated for out-of-towners, New York's cabs will now be determined by a yellow-colored capital "T" in a black color circle.
Based on The New York Times, besides their "axi," taxis will also be dropping their traveler entrance stand up board - the information will be shown on the cab's video display instead. The simple move in style is caused by New York's Cab of tomorrow program, in which the Nissan Car NV200 was selected to become the town's unique taxi automobile, beginning next year. The t-in-a-circle logo was designed by Sensible Design.
Mark S. Yassky, the Taxi and Limousine Commission Chairman, addressed concerns about whether individuals would be able to recognize the new taxis by saying, "Even the greenest of greenhorns will know that it's a taxicab," according to the review.
