2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black got fire while testing

Mercedes-Benz has been working its new, and most certainly badass, SLS AMG Black models around the Nürburgring of late, doing the type of high-speed and managing assessments that such supercars need to be completely super.

Getting the bugs worked out is an advantage though, as these terrifying pictures captured by one of the spy photographer. This particular SLS seems to have dashed and, quite basically, burnt off while doing some high-speed operates on the ring. We're informed that the car was holding both a driver and one passenger, and that both stepped away from the smashed exotic before the fire even started.

As we've reported previously, expectations are that this beastly Black Series will produce horsepower figures north of 600, while also shedding weight and gaining strengthened internals. The fire-damaged hulk seen here would seem to indicate that this latest SLS will make use of the standard car's aluminum superstructure, rather than the carbon fiber used for the SLS AMG Electric Drive, however.

As we've revealed formerly, objectives are that this beastly Black series will generate 600HP, while also reducing bodyweight and getting increased internals. The fire-damaged hulk seen here would seem to indicate that this newest SLS will make use of the conventional vehicle's metal superstructure, rather than the carbon fiber used for the SLS AMG Electric Drive, however.

Look for the unaffected development edition of the SLS AMG Black series to be officially presented sometime in 2013, most likely as a 2014 design.
