Car Choices:
While both engines are decent enough, we give our recommendation to the 2.5 diesel that dishes out 102hp. It may be small, but acceleration is smooth and fuel economy is excellent. Do take note that manuals have 200Nm while automatics have 260Nm.
There is nothing wrong with the 136hp 2.0 gasoline, but with the diesel's existence, it becomes a second choice. A good pick for those who are wary with the injector problems that plagued early Innova diesels.
Four variants are available with the J as the base model. This variant has hubcaps, CD player, vinyl seats, air conditioning, power steering, and airbag for the driver (added in October 2009). Next is the E which adds alloy rims, ABS brakes (for mid 2007 and later units), power windows, rear wiper, power door locks, and fabric seats. Choosing the G will give you dual airbags (a single airbag was standard among 2005-2006 units), parking sensors, chrome bits, power mirrors, alarm system, and keyless entry. The top end V gains captain's chairs in the middle (hereby limiting space for seven people) and leather seats. Skip this variant if possible due to the limited utility it offers. A limited edition SR variant is basically an 2.5 E with a different set of wheels and body kits; this was offered in late 2009 until 2010.
