The updated Everest brought in common rail diesel technology that bumped power to 143hp for the 2.5 4-cylinder. Added to the line-up is a 3.0 4-cylinder which carries 156hp and only available with 4WD. Both of them are powerful, but we think the 2.5 is more than enough. Consider the 3.0 if your journeys involve rough terrains.
XLT (or known as the 2.5 for pre-June 2009) models are paired with the 2.5 and can be had with either manual or automatic transmissions plus the following items: dual airbags, ABS brakes, step board, roof rails, silver accents, all power features, keyless entry, alarm, fog lamps and CD player. An auxiliary jack, and limited slip differential were added in the 2009 update. Limited variants adds side airbags, back-up sensors, puddle lamp, side cladding, silver and wood accents, leather seats, and six disc changer. The 3.0 Limited adds whatever the 2.5 has. Spare tire cover became standard across the board in 2013.
