Car Choices:
As they say, less is more; and the engine of choice is the 240hp 3.0 V6. That power plant offers enough grunt that can rival its bigger brothers while returning low maintenance costs.

Making up the XJ engine line-up are V8s, which are appealing to those who have deep pockets. Next to the base is the 3.5 V8 that carries 262hp, and a 4.2 V8 which can be had in normal (300hp, called as the SE in both short and long wheelbases) or turbo (400hp, can be had in XJR or Super V8) guises. The higher engines do not make sense in the financial aspect, but then you wouldn't be buying a Jag in the first place if maintenance costs are a priority.

All models get leather upholstery (upgraded to soft grain leather in the 4.2 SE and Super V8 and sport leather for XJR), front and rear proximity sensors, adjustable pedals, rear window blind, 12 disc changer, and Alpine audio system across the board. Moon roof can be had in 4.2 models and a DVD player is standard in the top model.
