You can never go wrong with the 152hp 2.0 4-cylinder; it offers stellar performance and sold pretty well so finding one isn't trouble. There is nothing wrong with the 157hp 2.3 but with the minimal power difference, we'd pass on this one.
VTi models are the basic since they come with: airbags, fabric seats, all power amenities, foldable rear seat, and TV tuner (this replaced the disc changer for pre-late 2001 models). VTi-L is we recommend which adds ABS brakes, leather seats, and wood trim; plus, it is available for both 2.0 and 2.3 (sold between February 1998-2001).
