Car Choices:
With high car prices and the fact it is very pricey when it was new, this necessitates the purchase of the SL500 that carries a 5.5 V8 with either 382hp for 2002-2008 models or 388hp common among January 2009 and later units. It provides a balance of power without intimidating those who stepped up the ladder for the first time and finding one isn't trouble.
The other variants available include the SL350 with the 3.5 V6 having either 268hp (2002-2008) or 315hp (2009 and above) which is economical at the expense of performance. The SL 55 AMG with a 510hp 5.5 V8 and SL 63 AMG carrying a 525hp 6.3 V8 are ferociously fast.
All models come with airbags, adaptive brake system, stability and active body control, front and rear sensors, fog lamps, automatic HID headlamps, rain sensing wipers, leather seats, power mirrors with fold (heated option was dropped in the update), disc changer, and tire pressure monitor which was added in 2009. Bose sound system with COMAND among early units were replaced by a Harman Kardon sound system with DVD/MP3/SD Card and voice command system. AMG variants have a revised body kit and larger wheel sizes.
