Car Choices:
Call this old, the 158hp 3.0 turbocharged diesel still has enough punch to accelerate this hulking SUV. Steer clear of 2001 and some early 2002 Patrols as they have problems with their fuel injectors. The best bet would be the later models as this malady is already fixed. You can have two transmission options: manual or automatic.
There is a gasoline engine existing in the name of an inline-six 4.5 with 197hp. It was upgraded in May 2007 to a 4.8 and power was bumped to 252hp. While they are powerful in their own rights, the 4.5 lacks oomph no thanks to a smallish horsepower rating and a 4-speed automatic while the 4.8 is much better if you want a gasoline Patrol. It received a permanent vacation in 2010 with the Patrol Royale's introduction.
All units, regardless of engine option, have dual airbags (driver side for pre May 2007 models), leather seats (MT diesels skip this until 2005), rain channel, all power features, CD player with cassette, front automatic climate control, alarm, and keyless entry. An update done in September 2005 added ABS brakes, fog lamps, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, and disc changer (it was dropped later on). The May 2007 update gained back-up sensors, DVD capability, and two LCD screens. Prior to 2005, it has a seating capacity for 10 people; later ones had nine and seven for 2007 and later units.
